thLocalMessages

The thLocalMessages parameter is a flag that indicates that Thymol should search for the message bundles (message property files) that are associated with a template in that template's own directory.

By default, Thymol will attempt to resolve message values referenced in a template by searching within the template's local directory for a files with the same base name as that template, but with the file extension ".properties" and (possibly) with a locale-derived suffix.

e.g. Within a template named "fred.html" and in an environment with the locale "en_US", Thymol would try to resolve any message-valued parameters within "fred.html" by looking for these message properties in files with names "fred_en_US.properties", "fred_en.properties" etc.

You may stop this default message resolution mechanism by setting the value of the thLocalMessages parameter to "false".
